9 DIY Lip Scrub Recipes To Make Your Lips Soft and Supple
7. HYDRATING LIP BUFF
If your lips are in need of some serious work, look for a lip scrub that hydrates. This buffing recipe is amazing, although it’s a little bit involved in terms of ingredients.I suggest you schedule yourself an at home spa day, buy all the ingredients in advance, and make yourself a batch!
1 oz Olive Squalane
2 oz Shea Butter Unrefined (Ivory)
1 oz Olive Butter
1 oz Jojoba Oil, Clear (Organic)
5 oz Sugar (Organic) – Food Grade, Fine Grain
3 ml Flavor Fragrance Oil (optional)
Phase 1: In a double boiler over low heat, melt butters until liquid. Remove from heat source.
Phase 2: Add liquid oils and olive squalane and stir until thoroughly combined.
Phase 3: Add liquified butters and oils to sugar and combine. Add optional flavor fragrance and mix again to thoroughly incorporate ingredients.
Phase 4: Package in an airtight container until use.
To Use: Massage a generous amount onto lips using a firm, circular motion. Wipe away with a tissue or soft cloth. Although all of these ingredients are lip-safe, resist the urge to “lick off” the lip scrub as saliva will aggravate the “chapping” cycle, undoing the work you’ve just done. Follow up with a lip gloss or balm to seal in moisture and protect newly exfoliated skin.
8. HONEY, SUGAR, AND LEMON SCRUB
This lemony lip scrub isn’t quite as astringent, and it’s much simpler to make if you’re in a hurry.I love the combination of lemon and honey not just in lip products but even in my cooking. This time, you get the antioxidants from the honey and the vitamins from the lemon, so it’s supremely win/win!
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Mix sugar and honey together and afterwards add lemon juice.Apply the mixture on your lips and rub gently.Wash with lukewarm water when done.Besides exfoliating, this scrub will also moisturize your lips.
9. SIMPLE HONEY LIP SCRUB
Finally, I’ve got a simple honey scrub for you. This also relies heavily on baking soda and olive oil.The good news is that the sweetness of the honey takes care of the somewhat icky flavor of the baking soda, so you’ll still have a sweet scrub that exfoliates your dry skin beautifully.Just go easy with this one;don’t scrub too hard.
1 teaspoon of honey
1 teaspoon of baking soda
In a small bowl, combine one teaspoon of honey, one teaspoon of baking sodaand a few drops of olive oil.Apply the mixture on your lips.Allow the mixture to absorb for a few minutes.Rub your lips gently to remove the dead skin cells.Rinse with warm water.Dab your lips with olive oil for added moisture.
